Automatic Data Imports

From Magento into Catalog-on-Demand

Ensure that your product PDFs and catalogs are Always Fresh™ by following these simple steps.

  1. Log in to the Magento admin panel.
    1. Go to Catalog > Catalog-on-Demand > Configuration Settings.
    2. Enter your Account ID that you used when you registered with Catalog-on-Demand.
    3. Enter a secret key. This can be any combination of letters and numbers.
    4. Click Save.
  2. Sign in to Catalog-on-Demand.
    1. Click on "Account" at the top of the screen.
    2. Select your local time zone.
    3. Scroll to the "Automated Data Import Setup" section.
    4. Select "Catalog-on-Demand callback" as the Import type
    5. Copy the Kick-Off url from the Magento extension to the first field.
    6. Enter your secret key in the second field.
    7. Check at least one of the "Auto Start Days of Week"
    8. Click Save Changes.
  3. Start the import.
    1. Click on Import Now.
    2. After a couple minutes, click on History. Your new import job should appear in the history table. (Note: This refers to the History button found in Data Import Setup.)
    3. When the import is finished, click on Download Report. You should see a value for "Items created" that is the number of SKUs in your Magento database.


Troubleshooting Magento Imports

 

Running a Manual Import

If your automated imports are not working, please try the manual approach. Make sure that you have completed Step 1 and 2 above.

Manual imports are also handy for refreshing your data while you are experimenting with Catalog-on-Demand configurations.

  1. Create a data file from Magento
    1. Log in to the Magento admin panel
    2. Click on Catalog > Catalog-on-Demand > Configuration Settings
    3. Click on Data File Launch Mode > Manual mode
    4. Click on Create Data File
    5. Wait until the data file is finished
  2. Import the data file into Catalog-on-Demand
    1. Sign in to Catalog-on-Demand
    2. Click on "Account" at the top of the screen
    3. Scroll to the "Data Import Setup" section.
    4. Click on Import Now.
    5. After a couple minutes, click on History. Your new import job should appear in the history table. (Note: This refers to the History button found in Data Import Setup.)
    6. When the import is finished, click on Download Report. You should see a value for "Items created" that is the number of SKUs in your Magento database.

Grouped products are presented in tables. The width of each table column is computed for best fit. You can also rename the attribute labels for publishing.

I have some attributes that I do not want published in my grouped product tables. How is this handled?

Catalog-on-Demand lets you specify which attributes that you do not want to appear in your group product tables.
